Frequently Asked Questions

What does a coach do?

I guide you through a process of articulating your fundamental challenges, assessing your capabilities, setting concrete goals, developing strategies to reach these goals and staying accountable.

What are coaching sessions like?

We typically start by gauging your progress since the previous session, identifying unresolved or emerging problems, and determining goals (desired outcomes) for the session. After prioritizing these goals, we start with your most important goal and deepen our analysis of the problem that's at its root. When this is sufficiently complete, we turn to problem-solving using open-ended inquiry, diagnostic tools and practical exercises. I give targeted feedback and make concrete recommendations. Sessions conclude with a review of next steps.

How frequently do we meet? For how long?

We usually meet every two weeks. Sessions are typically an hour, but can range from a half-hour to an hour and a half, depending on your needs.

What determines cost?

Cost depends on the length of the engagement and the inclusion of special services (360 interviews, personality assessments, leadership style inventories). Many institutions offer support. Find out if yours does too.

Are sessions confidential?

Your identity, the goals of your coaching program and the content of sessions are confidential, and I will never disclose them to anyone without your consent. Confidentiality is essential to maintaining an environment of safety and trust.
